Eatin' Garbage

I watched two boys cannonball into a pit of trash
And learned to grieve with God
Why are you training my eyes? I asked
He responded.
Uncarefully ambitious
Fists clenched around ignorance and rotten meat
For food eaten in secret is delicious1
We mourn.
A guardian angel I prayed to be used
Though tribulation in this world is promised2
Lord heal our hearts, black and bruised
Intercession.
Who can straighten what You have bent?3
Lost worship grew unsatisfying
Behold the gracious Name so foolishly4 spent
I crave sanctification…
Weary and burdened,5 Jesus gave me rest
Unforced symphony of grace I now abide
Fearfully and wonderfully6 blessed
Emerged from the garbage!
